REDEEMER

USA, 2002, 90 min, color

One day, three strangers came together. One thought he had nothing left to offer. One knew he had everything to give. The fate of both depended on the heart of one woman. Each would become the other's "redeemer." Former author Paul Freeman now teaches creative writing at a local prison. One student who stands out is Charles, a convicted murderer who, after twenty-four years behind bars, has proven himself a model prisoner. Sentenced to
life in prison for a homicide he didn't commit, Charles now wants out. He needs to prove his worth as a model citizen. Only one thing is stopping him. Her name is Sharon, the victim's unyielding sister. A vigilante in her own right, she's devoted her life to ensuring that Charles never be paroled. Through Paul's persuasion, she allows herself to finally make contact with the man she has loathed and feared all these years. It begins with a letter. Where it ends is the only place Charles ever dreamed, and the first step for one woman toward finding the courage to forgive.
