THE DEVIL'S TAIL
ÎÏÀØÊÀÒÀ ÍÀ ÄßÂÎËÀ

Bulgaria, Russia, Japan, 2001, 87 minutes, colour

Awards: "Love is Folly" '01 - Special Jury Prize
Golden Chest Festival, '01-2 (special jury award for camera work)
A young musician regains possession of his family home. Strange people begin to appear and become more and more insistent upon purchasing the property. But it is not for sale. The musician doesn't take the threats seriously, because he has serious problems between the angles of a love triangle. And he seems to have trodden on the tail of the Devil…
Temptation, a minor transgression and a major sin; ancient treachery and stark illusions; talent and music, the meaning and the importance of things in life; their price? Or just a well told story of a simple love triangle in a pure, simple film. Something which Bulgarian cinema has been crying out for for a long time.
"It is both. The Devil's Tail is both clever and wise. It gives us the right to choose. We can be chance passers by, slow down and hear the story told by the main character and see our own lives through his eyes. Or we can take part in the game somewhere between a philosophical fable and a middle-class melodrama."
Antonia Kovacheva, Kapital
