A being we want to laugh at and cry for at the same time. Roy Andersson’s motto is simple: man is fascinated by man. Accordingly, he’s interested in all the glories and weaknesses of mankind. Liberated from linear narrative structures, he takes Man to task in a series of tableaux depicting various situations – daily life, happy moments, worries and philosophical questioning... This film of atmosphere with a dream-like quality reflects his personality: ambiguous, ferocious and provocative.
